Individual Psychotherapy Services

Evaluation & Treatment Planning

Psychological evaluation is defined as a way of assessing individuals, couples and families about their thoughts, emotions, and behavior to draw conclusions in order to inform therapeutic intervention. Treatment planning is essential because it informs and directs the goals, types of services, service intensity and progress indicators that are necessary in order to increase successful outcome of counseling and psychotherapy.

Cognitive Behavior Therapy

Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) has been shown in more than 1,000 research studies to be effective for many different disorders and problems. CBT is a solution-focused approach to treatment, oriented toward solving problems and learning skills by identifying and replacing self defeating thoughts and behaviors with self affirming ones.

Inner Child Work (Analytical Psychotherapy)

The concept of the inner child relates to several psychotherapy theories. At it's core, the work involves healing past injured parts of the young self that are subconscious or unconscious in the present time, that are believed to be producing unexplained symptoms.

Psychodynamic Psychotherapy

Explains personality in terms of conscious and unconscious dynamics.  Childhood experiences shape personality and symptom presentation, and treatment focuses on resolution of these dynamics.

Eye Movement Densensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

"EMDR is a structured therapy that encourages the patient to focus briefly on the trauma memory while simultaneously experiencing bilateral stimulation (typically eye movements), which is associated with a reduction in the vividness and emotion associated with the trauma memories. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an extensively researched, effective psychotherapy method proven to help people recover from trauma and PTSD symptoms." (

Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)

"Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) is a unique approach to psychotherapy. ART is unique because the ART Therapist guides the client to replace the negative images in the mind that cause the symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress with positive images of the client’s choosing." "ART is also unique in that it combines the enormous power of eye movements to allow voluntary changes in the client’s mind with well-established therapies like Gestalt, Psychodynamic Therapy and Guided Imagery." (

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

ACT differs from CBT in that instead of challenging distressing thoughts by looking for evidence and coming up with a more rational response (CBT), in ACT, the thought is accepted as a thought, e.g., "I'm having the thought that this boat is going to sink," and then defused using a variety of techniques, which may include mindfulness, metaphors and language. ACT uses three broad categories of techniques: mindfulness, including being present in the moment and defusion techniques; acceptance; and commitment to values-based living.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) 

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a comprehensive multi-diagnostic, modularized behavioral intervention designed to treat individuals and groups with severe mental disorders and out-of-control cognitive, emotional and behavioral patterns. It has been commonly viewed as a treatment for individuals meeting criteria for Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) with chronic and high-risk suicidality, substance dependence or other disorders. However, over the years, data has emerged demonstrating that DBT is also effective for a wide range of other disorders and problems, most of which are associated with difficulties regulating emotions and associated cognitive and behavioral patterns.

Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) is an approach to psychotherapy that was originally created as a relapse-prevention treatment for depression. Mindfulness and mindfulness meditation focus on become aware of all incoming thoughts and feelings and accepting them, but not attaching or reacting to them.

Solution Focused Therapy 

Solution-focused brief therapy is an approach to psychotherapy based on solution-building rather than problem-solving. It explores current resources and future hopes rather than present problems and past causes and typically involves only three to five sessions.

Experiential Therapy 

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy that encourages Clients to identify and address hidden or subconscious issues through experiences such as role-playing, guided imagery, the use of props, and a range of other activities.

Telehealth Therapy

Some individuals may not have the time or means to get to the office for face-to-face therapy. In these cases, telehealth options are available if clinically appropriate.  Please call to discuss this option or speak with your therapist.  Note that these services are not covered by insurance.

Substance Abuse Therapy Services

Not all that different from the above mentioned mental health therapy services, substance abuse therapy focuses more specifically on the presenting issue of substance abuse and resolving underlying issues that have led to the use/abuse of substances, and also incorporates more traditional behavioral therapy interventions and motivational interviewing.  Substance abuse therapy also will incorporate family therapy when appropriate, as addiction is thought to be a "family disease" and does not exist in isolation within the individual.

Imago Relationship Therapy

Imago Relationship Therapy is an integrated theory and process for working with couples that helps them develop the necessary tools and skills to discover the root of their problems and create solutions and greater intimacy.

The Gottman Method

Gottman Method Couples Therapy helps couples break through barriers to achieve greater understanding, connection and intimacy in their relationships. Through research-based interventions and exercises, it is a structured, goal-oriented, scientifically-based therapy.

Prevention and Relationship Enhancement Program (PREP)

The PREP approach is a scientifically-based and empircally-tested method of teaching relationship education. It is based on over 30 years of research in the field of relationship health, with much of the research conducted at the University of Denver, and sponsored by the National Institutes of Health. This means that PREP's trainings and workshops are delivered with a seal of integrity that can be trusted.

Structural Family Therapy

Structural Family Therapy is a strength-based, outcome oriented treatment modality based on ecosystemic principles: context organizes us.  Our behaviors are a function of our relations with others.  The structural therapist focuses on what is taking place among people, rather than on individual psyches.

Attachment-based Therapy

Attachment-based Therapy stems from the theory that our early childhood relationships, with parents or guardians, form the way we attach in relationships later in life.  If we experienced adverse childhood experiences in our early relationships, we may develop insecure attachment styles and experience maladaptive thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that negatively affect our relationships.  This approach focuses on developing secure attachment skills.

Intensive Relationship Therapy

This is a short-term intensive therapy for couples who want to process a specific issue or an event in their lives. This is a 2-day event consisting of 4 hours per day. The structure of the therapy is dependent on each couple’s needs focusing on their relationship goals. Strength-based and solution-oriented methods are used to help you rebuild your relationship. Many couples benefit from following this intensive therapy with either couples or individual therapy. 

*Note that if using health insurance for intensive couples therapy, it may only cover up to one hour of therapy per day and additional time will be discounted to the insurance rate or our self pay financial assistance rate.

Group Therapy Services

Group therapy differs from support groups in that it is a psychodynamic type of mental health treatment that brings together several people with similar conditions under the guidance of a trained mental health provider. Improvement comes from therapist intervention and group member interaction.

All About Us: An Intensive Relationship Therapy Workshop

This workshop is designed for all couples in all types of relationships. You will gain a greater understanding of your relationship, build deeper connection with each other, manage conflict in a productive way, and restore your emotional connection. The straightforward approach of this workshop will teach research-based techniques to make your relationship. 

Purpose of the Workshop:

  • Deepen understanding of one another: strengthen your friendship
  • Learn about teach other’s values and find shared meaning
  • Develop appreciation for one another and empathize
  • Learn how to have discussions instead of arguments: develop effective problem-solving skills
  • Foster an interdependent relationship: live your own dreams and reach your goals as a couple 
  • Reopen: restore trust and emotional intimacy in your relationship  
  • Have fun together!

No shows and cancellations within 24 hours from the time of service will be charged the full cost of the appointment at the time of the service.  

Full Cost:  This does not mean your copay amount, it means the amount you pay + your insurance company pays (the full cost of the service).  

24 Hours:  24 hours means 24 hours from the time of the service, not same day cancellations. If you have an appointment on Tuesday at 10:00 AM, you latest you are allowed to cancel your appointment without incurring any fees is Monday at 9:59 AM.

Our providers prepare for your service ahead of time and confirm the time you reserve for your appointment.  Cancellations made less than 24 hours from the time of service are unable to be offered to someone else and booked with such short notice. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation with this policy.
